Geomechanical Earth Model
provide tools that assist in the optimization of the well drilling process
The project involves 3D geomechanical geological modeling activities aiming to understand and characterize the subsurface for well drilling purposes.
How can we help you?
Below is a short description of the key research areas. For further details or new researches, feel free to contact us.
3D Geological Modeling
Modeling tools and workflow to generate 3D geological model of salt bodies.
Evaporitic Constitutive Behavior
Numerical modeling of rock salt behavior and solution for predicting wellbore closure and casing loading throughout the wellbore life.
Sal Mechanical Properties
Establish gaps and weaknesses in defining the stress-strain-time behavior for salt, and improve the current knowledge on the creep behavior of salt and correlation with its physical characteristics.
Data Analysis
We have been appying Data Analysis in order to get a better understanding of the huge amount of results which are generated from a Geomechanical analyses.
Salt Dissolution
Salt creep combined with dissolution process. How it affects drilling time window, and how casing stresses change in the precence of salt caverns.
Creep Behavior
Constitutive laws for creep salt behavior will be obtained through triaxial creep tests under different conditions of stress and temperature.
Our Customers
Petrobras has been funding this researsh as a cooperative term with PUC-Rio since 2010.
